Seamus presenting a water -pump to Bennettsbridge. It is in memory of the old water pump that provided water to all the village. In the photo with Seamus is PJ Cullen [Centra Supermarket] Paddy Walsh [Tynan's meats] John Lalor [Publican] and PJ. McDonald [stonecutter and creator of the above monument ]
This Siren was used during the second world war to warn of enemy planes approaching and used again to sound all clear. It was a portable device , worked by cranking the handle as shown above.
