Seamus unveiled a monument to commemorate Oliver Cromwell's bloody attack on Kilkenny city and county in 1650.

What to see when you visit the museum

The Museum houses a fine collection of objects of Irish Historical interest including a history of the Penal Times, the Great Famine, 1916 Rising and the War of Independence. It also houses an old time kitchen, old fashioned pub, old carpenters workshop, old forge, items from the Stone Age, dairy and threshing set, old horse threshing set, old Irish transport, old G.A.A. items, old petrol station and a selection of Irish wildlife, all of which reflects the lives of the ordinary
people in Ireland long ago. There is also a fine display musical instruments and a collection of old church items. Also on display at the Museum are a selection of old bicycles and old prams.
Outside there are a number of large items on display including two big big cannons, some kirin stones , farm implements and horse trashing equipment.

Stepping back in time

This is the Proprietor of the Folk and Heritage Museum, Seamus Lawlor. His collection is opened to the general public and has not being funded by any state funds. He is located in the heart of Bennettsbrige, Co. Kilkenny. He can be contacted on phone on 0567727749. Bus Tours welcomed.
